NIEPOŁOMICKA

In the green surroundings of Łostowice, a residential district of Gdańsk, we designed a small-scale restaurant building conceived around the idea of openness – openness to people and to the landscape that frames it. The single-storey structure with a basement is carefully shaped to dissolve the boundary between interior space and the surrounding garden setting. At the heart of the concept is the relationship between the dining room and the outdoor areas. The interior extends seamlessly onto a covered terrace sheltered beneath a deep roof overhang, creating a natural continuation of the restaurant space. This transitional zone allows the life of the restaurant to flow outdoors, softening the line between inside and outside and giving the building a welcoming, almost pavilion-like character. The architecture remains deliberately restrained and rooted in the natural qualities of the site. The façades are clad in boards of weathered larch whose muted tones blend quietly with the greenery around. A distinctive counterpoint is provided by the deep burgundy window frames and doors – a subtle yet expressive detail that gives the building its identity while gently signalling its public, hospitality-oriented function.
